Welcome to February

January isn't my least favorite month, but I can understand why other people hate it. It's gray, cold, and we just had the Golden Trio of months (spooky October, thankful November, magical December). Sure, there can be excitement at the beginning since we've started a new year. There was a good energy as people shared their 2022 recaps and their goals and hopes for 2023.
But then January just seems to go...on...and on...
This one has been a little harder because I have been rather uncomfortable with my little one growing in my belly. I still have some months to go, but I try not to think too much about it as I keep waking up at night to readjust my sleeping position because my hips ache, or as I have a harder time breathing because my belly is shoving all my innards upwards. I know I'll feel like April is never going to arrive, and then bam, I'll be there wondering where the time went.
A brief summary of January: I succeeded with my goal to write something--anything--every day, and I finished reading three books. Not too shabby of a start!
For February, I aim to finish rewrites to Sidekick (Emma willing, I'll either do that today as she naps or I'll be just about there), give myself a break to explore another story, and then print Sidekick out to start marking it up in red. It ain't going to be pretty. But I'm hopeful that I'll be critical enough to spy the changes I need to make, and I'll be gracious enough to not scrap it when I'm discouraged in the editing process.
Now excuse me... Emma has been asleep for nearly half an hour, and I have a disaster to finish writing!
