Germy Germ Germs

I got sick about four weeks ago and tested positive with RSV. The symptoms clung in there, and the fact that I'm pregnant means I'm limited in the medications I can take. There were some very hard days--days that I was so tired but couldn't sleep because of the congestion--and I found myself sad because I wasn't excited for Christmas. But before the holiday, I finally started to feel better.

While I still had some very mild congestion, yesterday was a good day! But my daughter had developed a bit of a cough and seemed to be getting a stuffy nose. No, no, no... By evening, my sinuses were burning and were beginning to clog up.

This morning, I tested positive for COVID.

I also had labs yesterday and am very happy that I passed my glucose test, but the doctor's office called today to let me know I'm moderately anemic and will be put on a prescription iron supplement. I'm grateful that this feels like a minor issue, but it's definitely one I want to remedy, especially for the baby's sake.

This season has been a bit of a challenge! I would appreciate if the germies could stay out of my house for longer than a week or two. But at the same time, I want to be grateful that none of us have contracted anything with too severe of symptoms. No, I don't feel good. But it could be worse.

Can I still appreciate that while complaining that this isn't fair and I'm tired??? Because that's where I'm currently at.

I want to get pumped up for 2023. New beginnings. Looking at what goals I want to accomplish this year. But at the moment, it looks like the number one goal is to avoid illness. Originally, the focus was meant to be preparing our family for the arrival of our April baby and to get back my writing passion. Right now, I just want to curl up in my giant hoodie and stay inside for the rest of the cold months. Who needs to set goals or work hard for what they want? Now is the time of couch potato-ing and kicking out anyone with so much as a sniffly nose.

Stay healthy out there, folks. Get some rest, drink some water, take your vitamins.
